Facelift Procedures in Harrisburg, PA
As people age, the effects of gravity, sun exposure, pollution, genetics, smoking and other stresses can show up on the face as wrinkles and loose, sagging skin. A facelift allows patients to “reverse time” by improving most visible signs of an aging face. A facelift removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissue, repositions soft tissue and redrapes the skin of the face and neck.
A facelift can make men and women look younger, fresher, and more rested and it may increase self-confidence. However, it does not totally change your look or restore the health and vitality of youth.
Am I a good candidate for a facelift?
If you have noted signs of facial aging such as cheek deflation, jowl formation, skin laxity or just notice you’re looking tired or sad, a facelift may be your answer. Many patients say, “people ask me what’s wrong or why am I angry or if I slept well last night.” Women and men in the Harrisburg, PA region can experience a significant rejuvenation of the face when this surgical procedure is performed by a top facelift surgeon such as Dr. de Ramón. Most patients are between the ages of forty to sixty, although Dr. de Ramón has performed successful facelifts on patients in their seventies. Patients must be in good overall health, be a non-smoker and not have a history of hypertrophic or keloid scars.
What is recovery like?
Many patients can have facelift procedures in our in-office surgical suite in Mechanicsburg, PA. Patients are given medication for pain and relaxation and local numbing medication is used. You’ll be awake, but very relaxed and insensitive to pain. More extensive facelift surgery may be performed under general anesthesia, which allows the patient to sleep through the entire operation. You will be given pain medication for the early post-op period though many patients report little to no pain.
Patients should plan on spending one or two weeks recovering and will have bruising and swelling post-operatively for about two weeks. Full recovery should take about 4-6 weeks, though some patients have been able to return to work within one week. Each patient recovers differently, so Dr. de Ramón will work closely with patients to determine the time for a return to work. Dr. de Ramón has a specially trained medical staff to offer personal care throughout the recovery process. Post-op patients are also given his personal cell phone number to contact him in case of concerns or questions.
Although the surgery and recovery require a commitment of some time, most patients are very pleased with the final results of their facelift.
What is the cost of facelift surgery?
Because a facelift varies in complexity and time in the operating room, costs can vary significantly. An in-office mini-facelift for patients with fewer facial issues ranges from $7900-8500. For a more extensive facelift performed under general anesthesia, outpatient fees are based on time and include physician, facility and anesthesia costs. Fees may range from $12,000-15,000+.
